Bank Negara’s international reserves stood at RM329.9bil as at Jan 14.
“The reserves are sufficient to finance 8.8 months of retained imports and 4.1 times the short-term external debt,” the central bank said in a statement yesterday.
The reserves comprise gold and foreign exchange and other reserves, including, special drawing rights (SDRs) of RM329.897bil. Other assets include Malaysian government papers (RM2.285bil), deposits with financial institutions (RM43.084bil), loans and advances (RM11.797bil) and other assets (RM6.517bil).
Its liabilities comprise paid-up capital (RM100mil), general reserve fund (RM13.478bil), other reserves (RM1.935bil), currency in circulation (RM56.296bil), deposits by financial institutions (RM160.139bil), Federal Government deposits (RM20.779bil), other deposits (RM3.182bil), Bank Negara papers (RM103.021bil), allocation of SDRs (RM6.396bil) and other liabilities (RM28.253bil).
